The NRL has paid tribute to Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs player and coach Steve Folkes, who has passed away aged 59.
Mr Folkes was a four-time premiership winner as a player over a 245-match career, while his coaching record stretched over 11 seasons and 288 matches.
He represented both NSW and Australia as a player from 1986-1988, was a member of the undefeated 1986 Kangaroos touring team, and was an Australian Jillaroos coach.
He was also an NRL video referee for 58 matches over 2014-15.
"Steve was incredibly successful as both a player and a coach," NRL CEO Todd Greenberg said.
"He won four premierships from six grand final appearances as a player, and coached the Bulldogs to a premiership in 2004.
"I've known Steve for a long time. He was a good friend, and a very well respected and cherished part of the Bulldogs club.
"He'll be remembered as one of the Bulldogs' greats, but more importantly a great man – a family man and someone who did wonderful things for rugby league.
"Our thoughts are with Steve's family and the Bulldogs at this time."
