Walker signs to stay a Rabbitoh until 2020

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are excited to announce the contract extension of versatile back Cody Walker for a further two seasons.

Walker signed his contract this morning at Rabbitohs headquarters in Redfern, meaning the electrifying five-eighth will be wearing the Red and Green until at least the end of the 2020 season.

Walker made his NRL debut with the Rabbitohs against the Sydney Roosters in round one of the 2016 season and has gone on to play 44 NRL games, scoring 14 tries.

Walker was one of the leading halves in the competition last season with 18 try assists and 20 line break assists as well running for an average of over 100 metres per game.

The 28-year-old is also heavily involved in the local South Sydney community, doing extensive work with Souths Cares, the charitable arm of the Rabbitohs Club.

Walker could not be happier about re-signing with South Sydney and sees his and his family’s future with the Rabbitohs.

“I’m very happy to have my future sorted, especially with the club where I debuted,” Walker said.

“Coming into Redfern this morning to sign the contract confirmed how much Souths feels like home for me and my family.

“The Members are a fantastic support for us as well, and I’m looking forward to having a big year alongside my team mates and the coaches in 2018.”

Rabbitohs Head Coach Anthony Seibold is delighted to know that Walker will be part of the Rabbitohs’ squad for at least the next three seasons.

“Cody has really matured and grown into the role of a key position player and a lot of that is down to his perseverance,” Coach Seibold said.

“He is an integral part of what we’re trying to do here going forward. He showed in his performances in the halves last year that he can play the consistent footy, and make the impact, that’s required at this elite level.”

“I’m really happy that he has re-signed and we’re all looking forward to working with Cody to see the heights that he can reach in the Rabbitohs’ colours.”
