Melbourne Storm duo Cameron Smith and Billy Slater holding the premiership trophy.

The 2018 Melbourne Storm squad has dominated their 20-year team with seven current players making the cut while pioneering stars Brett Kimmorley and Scott Hill missed the cut and club stalwart Matt Geyer was surprisingly relegated to the bench.

Billy Slater, Will Chambers, Suliasi Vunivalu, Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk, Jessie Bromwich and Ryan Hoffman were included, with only Hoffman not playing in the Storm's 2017 premiership-winning team.

Greg Inglis edged out Hill at five-eighth and Cronk got the nod over Brett Kimmorley in two changes from the club's team of the decade in 2008.

Dallas Johnson took the lock role while Michael Crocker also got a spot on the bench.

The team also featured 1999 premiership winners Marcus Bai, Glenn Lazarus, Matt Geyer, Stephen Kearney and Tawera Nikau. Craig Bellamy was named as coach.

A six-person selection committee of Bellamy, CEO Dave Donaghy, football director Frank Ponissi, club founder John Ribot, inaugural assistant coach Greg Brentnall and Fairfax Media journalist Roy Masters chose the team based on four key criteria.

This included their achievements on and off the field, legacy, success/premierships and accomplishments at the Storm.
