Munster's five-star Origin audition

Cameron Munster has made a compelling claim to retain the Queensland number six jersey after another stunning performance in the Melbourne Storm's 34-20 win over the Brisbane Broncos.

That's the word from Queensland and Melbourne captain Cameron Smith in the wake of Munster's masterclass where he was everywhere in attack, controlled play and set up a try for winger Josh Addo-Carr with a perfectly weighted kick.

Smith said Munster had ''most certainly'' made all the right noises to keep his five-eighth jumper for the Maroons.

''With the limited preparation that he had, being in that World Cup squad, he didn't have a full preseason,'' Smith said.

''He's certainly found a fair bit of form in the last couple of weeks, and was very good in the opening round when he played fullback.

''The inclusion of Ryley Jacks has helped Cameron settle in to that [five-eighth] position. He plays with a really level head and not many things fluster him. It's allowed him to go out and play his natural game.''

The attitude of Munster has also impressed coach Craig Bellamy after he had a few areas off the field to fix in the preseason.

''I think he's realised that he wasn't doing the right things all the time and to his credit he has changed and really grown,'' Bellamy said.

''I can't fault his off-field training, off-field preparation and off-field life in general. The last three games he's been very close to our best player or up in the top three.''

Bellamy said half Jacks was providing the side with outstanding direction.

"And I think Munster's really grown into that role as well," Bellamy said.

''Last year Cameron didn't do a whole heap of organising but I think he's taken a fair bit of that on board this year without Cooper [Cronk] there.

''Jacksy has come in and played a real solid role for us. He had some really good touches last week and was really solid for us tonight.''

Bellamy confirmed Jesse Bromwich had a medial strain to his knee and would likely miss a few matches.
