Physical battle getting the better of Warriors: Kearney

Warriors coach Stephen Kearney has conceded his team didn't aim up physically in Saturday's 30-10 defeat at the hands of the Rabbitohs.

The home side led 6-0 early, only to fall in a heap, conceding four tries in the first half at Mt Smart Stadium.

"Teams continue to beat us up physically,'' Kearney said.

"They are coming here ready to play each week and producing their best footy.

"We couldn't match the Rabbitohs which was disappointing, and I thought we conceded a couple of soft tries, especially the ones close to the line from the Burgess twins (George and Tom).

"The bye (next week) has come at the opportune time for us, we need to take stock of where we are at."

Kearney's men lacked direction with the ball in hand, with Peta Hiku struggling at pivot.

Blake Green, who shifted to halfback when Mason Lino was ruled out, was contained by the committed South Sydney defence.

It was in stark contrast to opposing halves Cody Walker and Adam Reynolds, who excelled in the testing conditions.

Warriors back-rower Tohu Harris admitted his team needed to improve in a number of areas before they could be viewed as a genuine title contender.

"We seem to be week on, week off at the moment,'' Harris said.

"Once teams get a roll on, we need to match them.

"Good teams in this competition find a way, we need to as well."

Captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will have scans on his ankle on Sunday after the fullback failed to finish the match.
