For 25 weeks we've laughed, sobbed and most of all, rallied behind our team and favourite players. Now, as we head into the business end of the season, we bid farewell to some of the game's greats and brace ourselves for the 2018 Telstra Premiership Finals.
Jersey Day!
August 31st marks ! Tom and Jake Trbojevic posed for a photo with younger brother Luke and called for all fans to do the same. The NRL encourages all clubs, schools and workplaces to support in this great initiative.
Flanno jnr gets a run
When it comes to debuts, Kyle Flanagan couldn't have asked for a better one. Linking up with Chad Townsend in the halves, he not only steadied the Sharks to a win but also gave the retiring Luke Lewis a cracker of a farewell.
Flanagan became only the ninth player to be coached by his father in the top grade and the first in 14 years.
Mothers Day
It may be Fathers Day this Sunday, but for Moses Leota's mother, last week's Panthers trip to NZ paid dividends for the young forward's mum. He surprised her with a car, the video soon going viral and giving us all the feels.
Star Struck
The Canberra Raiders ran into a familiar face in New Zealand ahead of their last game of the season. Former NRL great and current All Black Sonny Bill Williams posed for a photo with Josh Papalii and Sia Soliola as they prepped for their game against the Warriors.
"Good to see the Usos, take it easy on our Warriors please xx," Williams later wrote on his own Instagram Story.
Yeah the boys
The Sydney Roosters kicked back after training for some hugs in the sun. The squad will no doubt be ready for the NRL finals beginning next week.
Do it for JT
How does one sum up Jonathan Thurston's breathtaking career? Is it possible? All we know for sure is that he will be missed throughout the rugby league community.
"Thanks North Queensland members & fans for making my final home game so memorable; I'll miss you all! Thanks to my team mates; I couldn't think of a better group of blokes to share the occasion with," Thurston wrote.
Thankfully for JT, it looks like he's going to plenty to keep him busy in 2019.
Don't quit your day job
He may not be playing this week, but you couldn't wipe the smile off Andrew McCullough's face as he amused himself during a Brisbane Broncos panel show. A potential media career perhaps, Andrew?
Do it for 'Dewy'
Ask any Warriors player and they'd be the first to tell you that Simon Mannering would be hating all this attention right now. Set to run out for his 300th NRL appearance, Mannering has humbly laughed off the murals and tribute T-shirts in his honour. Still, it is a reason to celebrate, with Mannering set to become the first one club man for the team to hit the milestone.
Vale Lance Thompson
Last week was also an emotional week for Wade Graham who bid farewell to former club great Lance Thompson and played alongside Luke Lewis in his last home game at Shark Park. It was also the first time the new Dad had his baby boy William at the game.
Do it for Hoff
Ruled out for the remainder of season, Ryan Hoffman was back on the field supporting his teammates this week. While he'd no doubt preferred to have retired injury free, he's putting his energy into supporting the Melbourne Storm as they chase their second straight premiership.
