Rival captains Sam Bremner and Ali Brigginshaw.

Suncorp Stadium holds a special place in the hearts of the Jillaroos players who won the 2017 Women's World Cup, but for St George Illawarra Dragons fullback Sam Bremner her big day is coming on Sunday.

Injury robbed Bremner of a chance to play in Australia's 23-16 finals win over the Kiwi Ferns in November, but the 26-year-old is back and ready to take on the Brisbane Broncos in the historic opening weekend of the NRL Holden Women's Premiership.

Thirteen players from both the Jillaroos and the Kiwi Ferns sides from that World Cup will run out at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.

Dragons trio Kezie Apps, Raecene McGregor and Honey Hireme were there last November while Broncos Ali Brigginshaw, Chelsea Baker, Kimiora Nati, Heather Ballinger, Brittany Breayley, Steph Hancock, Maitua Feterika, Teuila Fotu-Moala, Ngatokotoru Arakua and Lilieta Maumau all took part in the showpiece game.

"The last time I was at Suncorp Stadium I had to watch the World Cup final from the sideline," Bremner said.

"I knew this day would come, I've been waiting a long time so I'm pretty excited about it.

"It's one of, if not the best rugby league stadiums in the world and the Broncos and Queensland are all footy fanatics - they all love it so the atmosphere is going to be one to remember."

Bremner said only finding out a week ago who they were playing in round one hasn't been an issue for the Dragons, as coach Daniel Lacey has expressed the importance of focusing on their own game.

"Our coach reiterated to us so many times since we started that the focus is on us and not who we are playing," Bremner said.

"When we did find out that we were playing the Broncos, he wrote to me and said, 'anyone, anywhere, any time', which he has said all along.

"We've managed to get some strong combinations going and some great camaraderie in the team.

"But the Broncos are pretty strong all across the park and I'll know they'll be tough. They're not ones to give up, they work really hard so we know we're in for it."

Broncos five-eighth Ali Brigginshaw said Sunday is going to be a moment she will never forget as well.

"There's no way that I ever thought that I'd get the chance the wear Broncos kit and run out onto Suncorp Stadium," Brigginshaw said.

"It's going to be a surreal moment and I'll never forget.

"I know it's going to be an amazing atmosphere at home on Sunday at lunch time with a huge crowd.

"For the women in rugby league this is a huge moment and I know that all the four teams appreciate the opportunity we've been given.

"They'll definitely be strong out wide but I think we've got a really strong forward pack and I think that's where the battle will be won."
