Manly young gun Wright switches to ACT Brumbies

Schoolboy rugby union prodigy Tom Wright is the latest player to exit Manly's revolving door of five-eighths after signing a two-year deal with Super Rugby franchise ACT Brumbies.
The Sea Eagles had high hopes for Wright after convincing him to switch codes in 2015, with the St Joseph's College product knocking back a lucrative ARU deal to play on the rugby sevens circuit, and a possible Olympics berth at Rio that went with it.
While Manly patriarch Bob Fulton took an active role in signing Wright out of school, after four games with the club he has sought and been granted a release from the final year of his contract to link with the Brumbies.
Uncertainty over the 21-year-old's NRL pathway and best position in rugby league has played a part in his rugby league exit, as well as the drama around coach Trent Barrett's tenure.
Wright joins Jackson Hastings and Warriors five-eighth Blake Green as pivots to have left the embattled Manly club in the last 12 months.
Across a forgettable 2018 campaign the Sea Eagles fielded four players in the No.6 jersey outside captain Daly Cherry-Evans (Lachlan Croker, Dylan Walker, Trent Hodkinson and Wright). They have recently signed Kane Elgey from the Gold Coast to fill the role.
