Casualty Ward

Brisbane Broncos centre Meg Ward underwent emergency neck surgery last week but thankfully the young star is now out of the hospital bed and smiling.

Ward had a disc replacement after feeling sudden pain while at home, admitting the ordeal was scary.

"Thank you so much to everyone for all the lovely messages, flowers, phone calls and hospital visits. I've been truly overwhelmed. I'm up and moving and on the mend", she told her fans.

American Hustle

While most NRL squads are back at their respective clubs for pre-season work, some of the Sydney Roosters players spent the beginning of their training camp in Los Angeles.

First stop? An NBA game between the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs. The boys posed for an on-court photo with Spurs and Australia point guard Patty Mills.

They backed it up early the next day with a hard gym session held by former chook, Luke Milton in West Hollywood.

Then it was time for some NFL.

Farewell, Timmy!

Australia said goodbye to Socceroo great Tim Cahill this week and Panthers star Josh Mansour attended with good mate Jeremy Latimore.

"A fitting farewell for this legend Tim Cahill on his last game for the Socceroo's, I'll miss watching you running out in that gold jersey mate, all the best!", the Panther wrote.

In a league of their own

This week the NRL launched its new campaign to play Junior Rugby League. Some of the game's youngest up and coming stars kicked-off the campaign for more kids to come play junior rugby league.

Jillaroo and Dragon Jess Sergis posed with a couple of the commercials young stars.

"The next gen! God that makes me so happy. Come Play Junior League!", Sergis posted on Instagram.

Deadly night

The accolades just keep coming for Latrell Mitchell. Not only did 2018 provide the 21-year old with a State of Origin series win, a Roosters premiership AND a Kangaroos call-up, it also ended with a special award.

Mitchell won the Dreamtime Male Sports Person of the Year award at a night he attended with fellow Indigenous NRL stars Josh Addo-Carr and Cody Walker.

"So honoured to win Dreamtime Male Sports Person of the Year. I represent my family and culture always," Mitchell said on Instagram.

The awards are an opportunity for Indigenous people from across Australia to be recognised.

Back to the grind

South Sydney halfback Adam Reynolds got together with Damien Cook, Tyson Frizell, Luke Lewis and Jason Nightingale for a hard gym session.

Merrin moves on

After being granted an immediate release to take up a four-year deal with Leeds Rhinos in 2019, Trent Merrin got together with his now ex-Panther teammates for a farewell.

"Great seeing the boys before we head to the UK, gonna miss you boys, thanks for some great memories and friendships," he said.

Dad's home

After an incredible debut for the Kiwis, Jamayne Isaako was finally reunited with his newborn son, Isaiah.

The Dally M rookie of the year spent six weeks away on tour with New Zealand.

RTS is back

Speaking of being reunited, Warriors fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck was finally back on the training paddock after a knee injury saw him exit the NRL finals early and forced him out of the Kiwis' England tour.

Good Mood

All the talk has been about where Kalyn Ponga will play in 2019. Either way, we have a feeling he'll still be happy.
