The South Sydney Rabbitohs have locked up star hooker Damien Cook on a four-year contract extension that will keep him at the club through to 2023.

The 27-year-old played his way into the NSW and Kangaroos jerseys in a brilliant individual season in 2018, earning the Dally M Hooker of the Year Award and being crowned the Rabbitohs' George Piggins Medallist.

"I'm very excited to be extending my contract with the Rabbitohs and I'm happy to have my future sorted," Cook said.

"Souths has been my home for the past three years and I didn't think it would be possible to be able to secure things for the next five years, but I'm so happy that that will be the case.

"I've loved every moment of my time here, even the tough times, and I think we're building to something nicely.

"It's exciting times at the Rabbitohs and I'm looking forward to seeing where we can take it in 2019 and beyond."
