Kennar signs with Broncos on one-year deal

The Brisbane Broncos have strengthened their outside back stocks by signing former Souths and Melbourne flyer Richie Kennar to a one-year deal.

The 24-year-old had signed with Wynnum-Manly in the Intrust Super Cup and was on a train-and-trial deal with the Broncos.

Kennar impressed his former South Sydney coach Anthony Seibold last year with his finishing ability where he scored seven tries in eight games, and on Thursday morning Kennar inked a new deal with Brisbane to take his place in the top 30 squad.

The Broncos were seeking more coverage in the outside back positions after the departure of Jordan Kahu to the North Queensland Cowboys.

Kahu's departure has opened the door for Kennar to continue his NRL career.

Kennar has trained strongly with the Broncos and will play off the bench on Saturday night for Brisbane against the Titans on the Gold Coast after playing his first trial for the club in the 42-0 win over Souths-Logan where his powerful running impressed.

When not required by the Broncos he will take his place in the Adam Brideson-coached Seagulls in the Intrust Super Cup.
