Players 'thought it would be easy': Kearney questions desire

Warriors coach Stephen Kearney conceded individual players were brought back down to earth following their 34-6 loss to the Wests Tigers on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors had no answers in their first away game of the season as the Tigers recorded back-to-back victories and their biggest win in Campbelltown since 2015.

After a barnstorming start to the year with their round-one victory in Auckland, they couldn't match the effort and Kearney indicated the performance was a reality check.

"I thought the Tigers out-enthused us, out energised us and had a real attitude to get a job done tonight," Kearney said.

"I think some of us thought it was going to be an easier night than what they anticipated. I thought for the first half an hour it was a real arm wrestle and we just let them get away from us and were our own worst enemy.

"We had 61% completions and only completed 21 sets. It's tough to win a footy game."

Despite the welcome return of former Kiwi international Issac Luke at starting hooker, it was his opposite number, Wests Tigers veteran Robbie Farah, who stole the show with another five-star performance to back up last week's man-of-the-match efforts.

"I thought he was great last week, Robbie, and was fantastic tonight," Kearney said.

"We'd been watching him all week and had Bully playing as Robbie during the week. I think we made it easy for him, we gifted them field position and weren't prepared to get dirty ourselves enough.

"I just thought possibly there were some individuals tonight on the cloud they finished off with last week. The lesson for this footy team is the NRL is every week as we all know, you've got to turn up regardless of where they are on the table, what round it is.

"It was a good lesson for them."

The Warriors will travel to Christchurch in round three for an away game against Manly in what will be an emotional trip after the terrorist shooting which occurred in the city a fortnight ago.
