Dear NRL Fans
As you know, this weekend is Magic Round. Eight Games, Four Days, One venue.
On Sunday afternoon, the Canberra Raiders play the Premiers, the Sydney Roosters. We decided to make it easy for the fans attending Suncorp by giving you 10 reasons to help you decide on who to support on the day.
1.Everyone loves an underdog
The Roosters are the reigning Premiers, they’ve got all the “Big Names” they’re going to be the first team since 1992/1993 to go back to back, blah blah blah. Are you over hearing all of this? Surely, you’d rather see the Raiders get the two points on Sunday.
2. Souths Play on Sunday too
No brainer here. Souths have half of the Book of Feuds dedicated to the boys from Bondi. We can count on their support.
3. Jarrod Croker
Is there a more underrated bloke in the competition. Turns up every week, gets his job done, kicks goals and gives his headgear to one lucky fan every week. Sure, the Roosters have Cooper Cronk, but at least Jarrod knows about recycling. We are the Green Machine remember.
4. International Coverage
We’ve got Pommies, Kiwis, Samoans, Tongans and even a couple of Turks in our squad. We’re the truly multi-cultural team of the NRL! We’re doing our bit to put rugby league on the World Map, so get behind us.
5. Ricky on the Sideline
Worth the price of admission alone.
6. Queensland History
Some of the Maroons best used to represent on this field once or twice a year, but for the other 30 weeks they wore the Lime Green. Steve Walters, Gary Belcher and of course the 13th Immortal Mal Meninga. Oh and Josh Papalii is playing too.
7. Sunday afternoon footy
It’s a Sunday afternoon game in Queensland. The last thing you want is to be stuck behind someone wearing a Sombrero…
8. A Roosters fan may make you miss kick-off
You think to yourself maybe I’ll have a pie and beer before the game starts, then you realise the Roosters are having a home game in Queensland. The last thing you want is to be stuck behind a guy ordering three triple shot Soy Lattes just before kick-off.
9. Victor and Velda
Is there a better Mascot duo in the NRL? We don’t think so. And what’s their favourite meal? Chicken Schnitzel.
10. It’s the Roosters
