The Cowboys have played their last game at 1300 Smiles Stadium and walked away winners after defeating the Bulldogs 15-8 on Thursday night.
Coach Paul Green was proud of the way his team was able to take control of the game and finish it off strongly, something they've failed to do in the past.
"I think the last two weeks showed what we're capable of and being able to put the same team out two weeks in a row has really helped, and I thought that was on show tonight," Green said.
"We defended really well and it gave us that energy to finish the game off well and come over the top of them."
Although the game went down to the wire in the final 10 minutes, Green said he didn't panic.
"I was pretty good. I thought we were finishing the better of the two teams. I thought we'd created a couple of opportunities and been able to get a bit of footy on, whereas in the past in those situations we've probably been a little bit frantic.
"I thought Morgs [Michael Morgan] and Johnny [John Asiata] controlled things well, I thought Drinky [Scott Drinkwater] was asking some good questions, putting some pressure on them there."
Scott Bolton converts for the final ever points at 1300SMILES Stadium
Green was thrilled to able to send Scott Bolton off a winner in his last home game before he leaves the club at season's end.
"The goal kick at the end is the icing on the cake. He's been a wonderful player for the club for a long time and just really pleased for him."
As the dust settled on 1300Smiles Stadium, Green dedicated the win to the club's longstanding fans.
"It's great for the people that have been here for a long time and also great for our fans," he said.
"It's been a disappointing season for a number of different reasons but to finish on a high like we have is good for our fans."
"Their last memory of this stadium is going to be a good one."
The Cowboys will wrap up their 2019 campaign next Friday night as they travel south to take on ladder leaders the Melbourne Storm.
"We'll go down and give it a crack," Green said of the clash with the competition heavyweights.
"They're a great side obviously they're leading the comp. We've played some good footy the last two weeks so we'll back it up again and see how we go."
