Cooper Cronk can be added to the list of NRL players who've been forced to miss matches due to quirky off-field incidents involving their kids.
A freak accident involving Cronk’s one-year-old son forced the veteran halfback to miss the Roosters’ clash with the Panthers last Saturday night.
Cronk was a late withdrawal the day before the match due to an eye injury.
pan66.com can reveal the 35-year-old suffered the injury when his son Lennox got a little too boisterous while the halfback was reading to him.
It is understood the corner of the book struck Cronk in the eye – forcing him to sit out of the premiers’ 16-point win at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
It’s not the first time an NRL player has been struck down in an incident involving their children.
At an Easter barbecue in 2007, South Sydney enforcer David Kidwell suffered a season-ending knee injury, trying to avoid treading on his then two-year-old daughter Zali.
Former Bulldogs forward Greg Eastwood suffered an ankle injury when he stood on one of his son’s toys while getting out of bed in 2011.
The Roosters are adamant Cronk will only miss the one match and will return in this Thursday’s showdown against foundation rivals South Sydney.
Co-captain Boyd Cordner is also set to return from a calf injury.
