Kahu set to return to Broncos after short stint at Cowboys

Jordan Kahu is set to return to the Broncos after a one-year stint with North Queensland.

pan66.com understands Kahu has opted to return to Red Hill, where he still has another year to run on his original deal with Brisbane.

Kahu, who was contracted with the Broncos until the end of 2020, was released by the club to join the Cowboys as a replacement for Ben Barba.

At the time of his release, Kahu wasn't guaranteed a top 17 spot and decided to head north as the No.1 for the Cowboys.

However, under the terms of his release, Kahu had the option of returning to the Broncos in 2020 if he didn't have another deal or wanted to return.

As it stands, Kahu will return to Broncos training later this month and will be included in the club's top 30 squad announced next week.

He finished the year with a shoulder injury and is expected to miss the start of pre-season as a result.

Five key match-ups of the Broncos' 2020 draw

Despite the hefty price tag, the Broncos are happy to have Kahu back around the camp given his influence on some of the young players.

It's still unclear whether Kahu will be part of coach Anthony Seibold's first-choice team come round one against the Cowboys.

Meanwhile, it's understood the New Zealand Warriors have made a massive play at David Fifita for 2021 and beyond, however the Broncos are confident of retaining the damaging back-rower.
