David Fifita on the charge for Australia at the World 9s.

Broncos wrecking ball David Fifita has been begging Anthony Seibold to let him loose in the NRL Nines in Perth next month and his coach has gladly obliged.

Fifita will line up alongside boom forwards Payne Haas and Tom Flegler in the 16-team competition after he showcased why he is so devastating in the format with a dazzling two-try display in Australia’s 25-12 win over New Zealand in their opening World Cup 9s game last year.

The 19-year-old's first try came after brute strength close to the line while the second featured a couple of powerhouse fends and a dummy before he dived over in the corner like a regular winger to score.

The memory of Australia’s World Cup 9s triumph and his own superb form in a modified version of the game that suits him has Fifita itching for more action.

"David came back raving about it after his experience with the Kangaroos in the Nines,” Seibold said after Broncos training on Tuesday.

How the Perth NRL Nines will work

"He has been asking me every day 'when are we going to start to train for the Nines?' I said, 'David, we will train for the Nines the week of the Nines'.

"We won’t send too many forwards but David will be one. He was outstanding for Australia where he broke a lot of one-on-one tackles, which is a real strength of his. He can’t wait to play. He has told me what tactics we should be doing, so he can help co-coach that week."

Such is Fifita’s enthusiasm for the format that he has been giving his coach advice on team selection.

"When David came back from the [World] 9s I said 'what did you learn?' and he said that you only need three or four forwards," Seibold said.

"When our squad comes out you will probably see that there are only a couple of forwards but the forwards we do have will be guys like Flegler, Haas and Fifita.

Staggs focused on keeping centre role

"We put guys like [Anthony] Milford, Herbie Farnworth and Xavier Coates around that and we’d like to go over and give a good account of ourselves."

With Milford calling the shots and a suite of fast and young outside backs on show the Broncos are keen to have a crack at winning the title.

"We are going to send what we think is a quality team because we want to represent our club well in whatever we do," Seibold said.

"Our guys are really looking forward to it and I have a really positive mindset about it.

"I think it is a great promotion for our sport in Western Australia and the opportunity to compete against other NRL clubs in a modified form of our game that suits a lot of our players."

Broncos assistant coach Kurt Richards will take control of the side in Perth while Seibold takes a Brisbane team to his home town of Rockhampton to play the CQ Capras on February 15 where he will also be a guest speaker at a Rockhampton Leagues Club community event.

The Broncos clash with the Capras will also mark 2016 premiership winner Jack Bird's return to action after recovering from an ACL injury that resulted in him missing most of last season.
