Hi everyone, Millie here.
It's been a crazy week in the world of women's rugby league and I wanted to give a little update on how we're travelling and some of the things that are happening as we try and keep sane during this period.
As a group we spoke with Todd Greenberg and Clint Newton on Monday and they addressed us on where we sit and the different outcomes that could be possible for the women's game.
It was nice for everyone to be on the same page and to be able to touch base and see where they are placed after a lot of speculation circulated over the past few weeks.
I think a lot of the girls are on the same page where they just want to play footy.
There's a World Cup next year that everyone is building towards and the NRLW gets everyone ready for that so hopefully we can make it work down the track in some way – fingers crossed.
As for what's happening around the traps in isolation, I've been chatting to all my teammates and can report on the following ...
Our NSW captain Kezie Apps is bored out of her brains on her dairy farm near Bega. She goes out of town to get a coffee and then goes home and that's her outing for the day.
She told me she's been talking to the cows and does handstands in the paddock in between a bit of training.
Jillaroos young gun Keeley Davis has been cooking up a storm but I am now hearing she's taking up sewing - if anyone wants to send in some requests, I'm on Instagram and can let her know.
You could call it a mid-life crisis as she's also about to dye her hair platinum blonde/grey from home so stay tuned on that one.
In Brisbane, Ali Brigginshaw is having some issues of her own because she's devastated she can't mow the lawn as she's still on crutches recovering from ankle surgery.
For anyone that knows Ali she's big on landscaping and also gets really down if she misses arm day at the gym.
Isabelle Kelly is probably one of the only winners out of self-isolation with the Golden Boot winner big on taking naps and has been bragging she now gets more time to do so.
Annette Brander never enters a zoom meeting without a headset that you could liken to a teleoperator which gets a good laugh out of the the girls each time we call in for a chat.
Meg Ward and her partner, Tash Flynn, are also doing some challenges on social media you can check out and keep track on their culinary exploits.
On the serious side of things, our coaches at the Jillaroos are working incredibly hard behind the scenes to make sure we're being informed with training programs and special activities to stay focused.
A lot of them have unfortunately been stood down but they've been very active in keeping us together.
To me it shows the loyalty in the women's game and how much their lives really do revolve around their work.
We play for the love of it and they work for the love of it.
As for me, I am bunkering down on the South Coast of NSW and have at this stage avoided neck surgery and continue to do my rehabilitation.
If there's any consolation out of the game's suspension it's that it gives girls time to rehab properly while getting stronger and fitter.
A few got surgeries they've needed instead of holding off until the end of the year like we usually would do.
If we can all be fit and ready to go for when they need us, that will be a big bonus but at the end of the day this is a very serious virus and we can't be insensitive to those who have a family member that has had it or is going through it.
The health and safety for everyone is most important so do make sure you're continuously checking in on each other - via technology of course.
On that note, take care and speak soon!
Millie
