Morris twins poised to make decision on 2021

The Morris twins have given themselves a deadline on deciding whether to play on in 2021 with the Sydney Roosters.

Josh and Brett Morris turn 34 next month but their form over the past six weeks for the Tricolours suggests they would not look out of place in Trent Robinson's squad for the next NRL season.

Josh said he wanted to make up his mind in "four to six weeks" while Brett said he'd already had the mid-season mark (round 10) as a guide of when he would weigh up his options.

"Look there's a couple of people I'll speak to about that and get their thoughts and I'll come up with a decision then," Brett said.

The preference is to both stay with the Bondi junction outfit.

"I wouldn't want to play at any other club now," Brett said. "I've really enjoyed my time here at the Roosters. It's a wonderful club and I honestly can't say a bad word about it."

But he added Josh's decision would have no bearing on his own.

"We're both individuals and have our own families and different motivations to why we play. Obviously different bodies with the injuries we've each had throughout our careers," Brett said.

"It's definitely an individual decision. It's not a group decision or package deal as such."

The pair have five tries and eight try assists between them so far this year.

They spent four years together at the Bulldogs but seem to be even better now they are reunited at the Roosters.

"I think it's combination of a few things. We've always played a similar style and I guess when you surround yourselves with so many great individuals in this team, and you do your job week after week, these kinds of performances keep happening," Josh said.

"We work hard here and we train pretty hard."

He also acknowledged the role Brett has played in his career.

"I probably wouldn't be half the player I am without him. We've pushed each other our whole lives," Josh said.

"When Brett does something good I want to do something similar myself. That only helps us to succeed and hopefully we can see a bit more of that over the next few weeks and for the rest of the year."

The skills and game-situation nous they have make reviving their years together in the NSW Blues jersey (2012-15) tempting.

NSW coach Brad Fittler said on Nine's 'Sports Sunday' program that the Morris twins reminded him of "a pair of thoroughbreds who can see the finish line and realise they've still got the speed to get there".

Teammate and incumbent Origin fullback James Tedesco likes what he sees and knows the Morris brothers are still at Origin level.

"Those two together are pretty cool to watch and play alongside," Tedesco said.

"They're probably in the top three of their positions as centre and winger and who knows. I think they're retired but if they got the call-up they'd do a great job."

Brett confirmed that he had no intention of putting his hand up for rep footy any more.

"No, I'm well and truly retired from rep footy. When I went out a couple of years ago, that was my time," Brett said.

"I've had my fair share of rep games – it's time for the next generation to come through. And they've done an extremely good job.

"I don't think there's any need for me to put my hand up and come back to the fold."
