Player ratings for the Gold Coast Titans team in their Telstra Premiership elimination final clash with the Sydney Roosters at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
1. Jayden Campbell: Cool under the high ball and elusive in attack, constantly probing for gaps. Was targeted by Victor Radley when defending up in the line in the middle of the ruck in the lead-up to James Tedesco's try. Topped the Titans run-metre charts with 182. 7/10
2. Phillip Sami: Limited involvement in the first half but worked his way into the game to eventually finish with just under 100 run metres. Also made key tackles but was caught out of position for Josh Morris's try. 5.5
3. Brian Kelly: Forced off in the first half with blood streaming from his nose after being hit flush on the button by Sam Verrills. Returned in the second half to not only clean up a broken play but turn it into a four-pointer by charging through the meat of the Roosters defence to score under the posts. Dropped ball presented Sam Walker with the opportunity to kick the winning field goal. 7.5
Kelly creates something out of nothing to get the Titans level
4. Patrick Herbert: Ran hard at makeshift centre Adam Keighran and had his opposite number back-pedalling but cost the Titans a try when a mix-up with David Fifita led to an obstruction. Then failed to pass when the Titans looked certain to score at the death and steal victory. 4
5. Corey Thompson: Also didn't see much action in the first half with the Titans looking to go through the middle. Bounced back to edge over the century in run metres. 5
6. Tyrone Peachey: Binned for a professional foul on Victor Radley, the pivot made amends just before half-time when his grubber bounced like a Shane Warne leg break for Beau Fermor to pounce. 7
7. Jamal Fogarty: Took the ball to the line to challenge the Roosters defence and kicked with precision, his bomb leading to Gold Coast's second try. 6
Ikuvalu drops the ball cold and Wallace scores
8. Jarrod Wallace: Was in the thick of the action in an eventful first half with the expected hard toil in the middle garnished with an offload and crowned by an intercept. Turned an Ikuvalu fumble into a try beside the posts to get the Titans level late. 8
9. Mitch Rein: Made good ground out of dummy-half and did his bit in defence. 6
10. Moeaki Fotuaika: Played his part as the Titans looked to dominate the middle and worked hard in defence, equal top tackler for the Titans with 33. 6.5
11. Kevin Proctor: Left the field early and did his bit without standing out. 5
12. Beau Fermor: Poor defensive read led to the first Roosters try but more than made amends by winning the race to Peachey's grubber right on half-time. Huge bust down the left almost led to a season-saving try in the final minute. 7
Fermor gets it down just before the break
13. Tino Fa'suamaleaui: Was in the action all night. Dropped the ball three times in the first half, the last of which cost the Gold Coast their captain's challenge and a Rooosters try in the next set. That was all forgotten when he cleaned up a bouncing bomb to score under the posts to get his side back into the contest. Finished with 145 run metres and equal-top 33 tackles. 8
Interchange
14. Erin Clark: Made one nice break out of dummy-half extended by a strong second effort. Also pulled off a key field goal charge-down with the game in the balance. 6
15. Sam Lisone: Started every run off the back fence and really hurt Victor Radley with an early carry. 5.5
16. David Fifita: Had a try chalked off by Herbert's obstruction and ran hard without causing the usual carnage. Also did his bit in defence. Was left waving for the ball when the scene was set for a match-winning play. 6
Tino in the right place at the right time
17. Jaimin Joliffe: Got stuck in during his time on the field. Made good metres with a succession of tough carries to finish with 98m, outgaining Fifita despite playing almost half an hour less. 6.5
