Last year was an entirely forgettable one for the Cowboys, and while on-field results are rarely aligned to Fantasy scores they were arguably the least-relevant Fantasy side of 2021 as well.

Whether that turns around in 2022 with just a couple of notable recruits remains to be seen but early indications are that Fantasy coaches will be looking elsewhere for bargains this year.

Big Guns

Jason Taumalolo's plight was reflective of his club's fate as well as the side's Fantasy prospects, with the former Fantasy superstar battling injuries and losing minutes and shedding cash along the way. At $620k he is still his side's most expensive Fantasy player but every other NRL club has at least one if not several players starting at a higher price.

Bargain Hunter

There's not much to get excited about here. Promising young lock Reuben Cotter ($500k) averaged just 45 minutes in his six appearances last year and will be appealing if he ends up in a big-minute role. Speedster Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow ($470k) had some injury-affected games and spent time in the centres so is underpriced for a starting fullback of his talents but this is counterbalanced a bit by eight tries in his 13 games last season. Heilum Luki ($439k) averaged just 38 minutes in his 11 games and has plenty of Fantasy potential if he nabs a starting role.

Cheapies

Nothing to see here Fantasy coaches, move along.

Be Wary

Fullback-turned-centre Valentine Holmes ($526k) was a tier below the elite Fantasy fullbacks last year and despite a reported licence to roam in his new left-centre role, is unlikely to get the attacking chances to even maintain his current price.
