Wests Tigers 2022 NRL Fantasy guide

The Wests Tigers' constant team reshuffling was a headache for Fantasy coaches in 2021, sabotaging a few potential bargains and cut-price keepers, with plenty of mystery surrounding their Fantasy relevance again this year.

Big Guns

Perennial Fantasy favourite Alex Twal is the Tigers' most expensive player at $683k. He's a tier below the premium scorers in the MID position but the scaling down of tackle breaks to two points will make him slightly more appealing. He also averaged 72 minutes over his final six games, having played 54 minutes per game prior to that – so if you reckon that is a sign of things to come he could be a cut-price keeper.

Adam Doueihi ($670k) is the second-most expensive player at the club but will miss the opening rounds while the third-biggest price tag belongs to Luciano Leilua ($659k), who is a chance of losing minutes after signing with the Cowboys for 2023.

Rule changes: Kick metres scoring change

Bargain Hunter

Jackson Hastings ($450k) is a much more mature player after a few years oversea and could be a great pickup if given the five-eighth role in Doueihi's absence.

The pre-season ACL injury to Shawn Blore ($357k) was a devastating one for the Tigers and of course Blore himself and also denied Fantasy coaches a likely value pick-up. Whether this creates opportunities for other players or just increases the reliance on Luciano Leilua and Luke Garner remains to be seen.

Cheapies

No-one who's likely to be viable to start the year but keep an eye on Jock Madden ($270,000) and Tukimihia Simpkins.

Be Wary

Despite plenty of talent, England international Oliver Gildart ($400k) is awkwardly priced for a centre and will have to overcome the hoodoo of English backs trying to make it in the NRL.

Rule changes: Six-again and in-goal escapes
