The Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) has confirmed new representative fixtures – Under-19s male and female State of Origin, on Thursday, June 23, at Leichhardt Oval.
Both matches will be broadcast on the Nine Network and Fox Sports, while each under-19s team will also be permitted to select two NRL or NRLW contracted “marquee” under-20s players for the match.
Players who would be eligible by age as under-19s or four under-20 marquee spots would include Roosters duo Sam Walker and Joseph Suaalii, Parramatta centre Will Penisini, Warriors fullback Reece Walsh, Broncos halfback Ezra Mam or Dragons fullback Tyrell Sloan.
Australian Rugby League Commission Chairman Peter V’landys AM said the Commission was excited to promote emerging talent through the new under-19s matches.
“This is a chance to see the best and brightest prospects in the game,” Mr V’landys said. “Why wouldn’t we want to take the opportunity to showcase the talents of these amazing young players?”
This will be one of many new initiatives promoting the next generation of players to the fans.
