Bostock ready to make big splash as a Dolphin

Weeks after he signed a three-year deal with Wayne Bennett’s inaugural Redcliffe Dolphins, Jack Bostock has shown he’s ready to make a splash on the big stage.

The flying finisher shocked the Queensland Maroons in the Under 19’s State of Origin on Thursday night, diving over in the corner to secure the win for the Blues under the lights at Leichhardt Oval.

Hailing from the South Coast, the 19-year-old winger said he is “over the moon”  to be launching his career at the Dolphins expansion club next year after wrapping up his Jersey Flegg campaign with the second-placed Dragons.

“Once they came with the offer it was pretty hard not to say no. They’ve got Wayne Bennett, one of the best coaches in the game, and I think they have a great program happening up there,” Bostock said after his starring performance for the Blues.

“I’m over the moon and pumped to go up there and join the team. I really like what they’re doing up there and what they’re building towards.

“Kurt Richards who was Queensland’s coach tonight is the pathways man at the Dolphins, so it was good to get one up on him early.”

Bostock, who scored eight tries for the Under 19’s Steelers SG Ball side earlier this year, said calling Queensland home will not deter his dream to once again pull on the sky blue jersey.

“The Blues' jersey means everything to me; playing Origin is something I always dreamt of as a kid,” he said.

“To put the jersey on and make an impact in the (Under 19’s) game felt amazing but it’s only made me want the first-grade Blues jersey more.”

Joining Bostock at the Dolphins from the start of the 2023 season will be recent signing Brenko Lee — further bolstering the club's outside backs. 

Lee will join his cousin, Edrick Lee, as part of Wayne Bennett's side for next year as the club continues to build for its inaugural year in the Telstra Premiership, with the likes of Euan Aitken, Jeremy Marshall-King and the Bromwich brothers all locked in to join the NRL's newest franchise.
