The Sharks showed many positive signs in their inaugural year but will be hoping to put together more consistent performances in 2024.

The Sharks will only travel as far as Canberra before a trip to the Gold Coast in Round 6 and will have a good chance to put together a strong start to the season after languishing in ninth position after four rounds last year.

Day-by-day breakdown

  • Thursday: 1 game (1 home, 0 away)
  • Saturday: 4 games (1 home, 3 away)
  • Sunday: 4 games (2 home, 2 away)

Turnaround time

  • 5 days: 1 game
  • 6 days: 3 games
  • 7 days: 1 game
  • 8+ days: 3 games

The Sharks have one five-day turnaround to compete with in 2024 as they take on Wests Tigers at PointsBet on Thursday after travelling back from the Gold Coast for their Round 8 clash with the Broncos. Cronulla do have three eight-day breaks throughout the year, however, the equal most of any team in the competition.

Opening month

  • Round 1: v Cowboys (H)
  • Round 2: v Eels (A)
  • Round 3: v Raiders (A)
  • Round 4: v Knights (H)

Only one of their first four opponents featuring in the postseason last season and  just one trip to Canberra makes for a nice opening month for Tony Herman's side. Losing three of their first four matches last season cost the Sharks a spot in the finals last year and the Cronulla women will be hoping to put themselves in better stead in 2024.

NRL and NRLW Doubleheaders

The Sharks will feature in five doubleheaders however only one of those will be at home when both the men and women host the Knights on August 18 (Round 4). The Cronulla side will enjoy another trip away with the NRL side when they head down south to meet with the Dragons in Round 5 to continue one of rugby league's oldest rivalries.

Can't miss game

Round 1 v Cowboys, Saturday at PointsBet Stadium (H)

Cronulla burst onto the NRLW scene in style last year with a historic opening win at home over the Raiders. Returning to PointsBet Stadium to open the 2024 season, the Sharks will be hoping to kick off their season in similar fashion when they face the Cowboys who they last dominated in Townsville 40-12.
