Bulldogs: One game day changes with Poasa Faamausili starting the game at prop and Samuel Hughes going to the bench. The remainder of the squad is as named on Tuesday. Drew Hutchison gets first crack at the No.7 jersey, with Matt Burton named at five-eighth and Toby Sexton set to come off the bench. Centre Bronson Xerri will make his first appearance for an NRL side since 2019 after serving a suspension, while Blake Taaffe starts at fullback, with the other main contender for that spot, Stephen Crichton, sitting out the first Pre-season Challenge match along with back-rower Viliame Kikau.

Storm: Winger Coby Williamson and hooker Tyran Wishart have been promoted to the starting side an hour before kick-off with Tuipulotu Katoa going to the reserves and Suliasi Prescott to the interchange. Star fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen will make his return from a serious leg injury picked up at the back end of the 2023 season and will captain the side as well. He joins centres Reimis Smith and Marion Seve as the experienced players included in the group. None of the Storm’s Origin or Test stars have been named, with the interchange made up mostly of young NRL prospects or players outside of the club’s top 30 squad.

Off-season additions Thomas Jenkins, Jed Cartwright and Will Pryce will all get their first run for their new club. The Saifiti brothers - Daniel and Jacob - will both start at prop, with the latter named captain, while Phoenix Crossland makes his return from off-season surgery at hooker with Jayden Brailey left out.

In the backline Sione Katoa is the only NRL regular, with young fullback Kade Dykes getting first crack at fullback and Kayal Iro in the centres. Roosters: Coach Trent Robinson will field a near full strength side, with captain James Tedesco, star halves Luke Keary and Sam Walker, and most of his big-name forwards included. New recruit Dom Young will have his first run for the Roosters on the wing. With Brandon Smith having played for the Māori All Stars on Friday night, Zach Dockar-Clay will start at hooker. Utility Connor Watson is named after overcoming a wretched injury run which has kept him out of the NRL side since September 2022.

Sea Eagles: After battling a string of injury and health setbacks in recent months, Josh Schuster withdrew from the squad an hour before kick-off, . First-choice halves Daly Cherry-Evans and Luke Brooks haven't been included, which gives Jake Arthur the chance to start alongside new recruit Brandon Wakeham. After being promoted into the club’s top 30 squad earlier this week, veteran forward Nathan Brown will start at lock.

Eels: The Eels will line up as named with no game day changes to Brad Arthur's squad. New signings Morgan Harper and Kelma Tuilagi will both have their first run in Parra colours, starting at centre and second row respectively. The starting pack includes NRL regulars Ryan Matterson and Shaun Lane, who will captain the side. Arthur has opted not to play halves Dylan Brown and Mitchell Moses and veterans Clint Gutherson and Junior Paulo, with the latter two having had injury-disrupted pre-seasons. Six members of the Eels' 2023 SG Ball Cup premiership team make their first appearance with the senior squad - Blaize Talagi, Ethan Sanders, Charlie Guymer, Matt Arthur, Josh Lynn and Saxon Pryke.

Raiders: No game day changes for the Raiders. Kaeo Weekes and Ethan Strange, who are the frontrunners to partner Jamal Fogarty in the halves in 2024, will get the chance to play together in the No.6 and No.7 jerseys, with Ricky Stuart opting not to name Fogarty for the first match of the year. In the other position up for grabs, Chevy Stewart looks to have the inside running at fullback after beating Xavier Savage to that spot, with Savage instead named at centre. Frontline hookers Zac Woolford and Tom Starling will both play, along with NRL regulars Nick Cotric, Emre Guler and Pasami Saulo.
