NRL Flood Appeal supports Bloomfield River Region communities

The NRL is helping raise funds for the people of Wujal Wujal and surrounding communities devastated by flooding following ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper.

The Bloomfield River swamped homes and the local rugby league field leaving hundreds homeless, without any personal belongings and forced into temporary housing.

One hundred percent of funds donated to the NRL Flood Appeal will be used by GIVIT to purchase essential goods and services people need now, and when they return home.

Some of the heartbreaking stories include a family near the Daintree River who were evacuated in a small boat with a 93-year-old father in a wheelchair and spent several hours in croc-infested waters to get to safety. They have lost everything and are requesting many items on GIVIT including tools to rebuild, hot water system, water tank and a generator.

Another family from Wujal Wujal have been living in a hotel for the last nine weeks and have just moved into more stable housing are in need of all household items.
