Knights: Co-captain Jayden Brailey is laid up with a hamstring issue, so Phoenix Crossland starts at hooker after doing so successfully through the back part of 2023 for Newcastle. Dylan Lucas starts in the back row, with new recruit Kai Pearce-Paul named on the bench. Jack Cogger begins the year on the interchange, with Adam O'Brien opting to retain Jackson Hastings and Tyson Gamble as his halves.
Raiders: Teenage prospect Ethan Strange has won the battle to have first crack at the No.6 jersey, while Jordan Rapana is the fullback in place of the suspended Seb Kris. English recruit Morgan Smithies will make his NRL debut as part of the run-on side, playing lock in the absence Corey Horsburgh, who is also suspended. A calf injury to Elliott Whitehead which will sideline him for 3-4 weeks means new recruit Zac Hosking starts in the second row. Danny Levi is the hooker with Tom Starling on the bench, which means no room for 2023 regular Zac Woolford.

Warriors: Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad (hamstring) is out of action, so Taine Tuaupiki will line up at fullback for his sixth NRL appearance, with Roger Tuivasa-Sheck at centre. Luke Metcalf gets the nod at five-eighth with Te Maire Martin in the reserves. There is no room for Jazz Tevaga, with Bunty Afoa and Tom Ale the preferred middle option on the bench alongside Dylan Walker.
Sharks: Nicho Hynes has been cleared to play after battling a quad complaint in recent weeks and will line up alongside Braydon Trindall in the halves. Newly re-signed prop Braden Hamlin-Uele is at least another week away with a knee injury, so Oregon Kaufusi and Royce Hunt start up front, with Toby Rudolf on the bench.

Storm: Cameron Munster is named to play as he continues to battle a pre-season groin injury but will likely still need to pass some tests before Friday to be declared good to go. Joe Chan has earned a starting role in Melbourne's competitive back row, with Trent Loiero moving to lock and new recruit Shawn Blore listed as 18th man. Ryan Papenhuyzen is back in the No.1 jersey after an incident-free few months on the injury front.
Panthers: Jarome Luai will play his first game since being injured midway through last year’s grand final victory, while Sunia Turuva is set to line up on the wing after being injured in the World Club Challenge last month. Taylan May gets first crack at filling the centre void created by Stephen Crichton’s departure. In the absence of Mitch Kenny (suspended) it’s second-year hooker Luke Sommerton who gets the nod to start at No.9, with Tyrone Peachey named on the bench and likely to see minutes at dummy-half.

Titans: Keano Kini takes over in the No.1 jersey with Jayden Campbell likely to miss the first month with a knee injury. The absence of David Fifita (pectoral) sees Beau Fermor move to the left edge while Klese Haas claims the other second row spot with former Bronco Keenan Palasia at lock. AJ Brimson is right to go in the centres after failing a HIA in week two of the Pre-Season Challenge while Isaac Liu (knee) is clear to play in his 250th NRL game.
Dragons: Coach Shane Flanagan has stuck with Tyrell Sloan at fullback and Zac Lomax on the wing for the season opener. Hooker Jacob Liddle (hamstring) and prop Blake Lawrie (ribs) are good to go. The versatile Connor Muhleisen and NRL debutant Viliami Fifita are part of a new-look bench that also includes former Bulldog Raymond Faitala-Mariner and Michael Molo.

Dolphins: The loss of Origin forward Tom Gilbert to a ruptured ACL brings Ray Stone in at lock and Kenny Bromwich will come from the bench. Halfback Sean O'Sullivan failed a HIA against the Warriors in week two of the Pre-Season Challenge but he is right to line up alongside Kodi Nikorima in the halves. Former Broncos Herbie Farnworth and Tom Flegler should feel right at home as they launch their Dolphins careers on familiar turf at Suncorp Stadium. Tesi Niu and Jack Bostock team up on the left side with no room in the 17 for Euan Aitken or new recruit Jake Averillo.
Cowboys: Veteran Kyle Feldt has won the battle for the right wing spot, with Semi Valemei named among the reserves. Zac Laybutt will play his fifth NRL game as he takes over at centre from the departed Peta Hiku. The season-ending injury to Coen Hess sees Jason Taumalolo starting at prop and Sam McIntyre joining the bench. Thomas Mikaele's strong trial form wasn't enough to win him a spot in the 17 as he is listed among the reserves alongside Jack Gosiewski and Jake Clifford.
