As one of the original members of the Brisbane Broncos NRLW sides who was part of their early success, Chelsea Lenarduzzi is hoping to add another premiership to her already impressive resume.
The powerhouse forward already boasts an impressive sporting portfolio which includes representing the Jillaroos, being a three-time national shot-put champion (2015, 2016 and 2018) as well as being a three-time NRLW premiership winner. She was also part of this year’s State of Origin series winning Queensland Maroons team and has a habit of performing in big moments.
After a slow start to this season, the Broncos have hit form and are looking to take that into their game against Wests Tigers this weekend, and as always, improvement is at the forefront of her mind in order to reach their goal of another grand final.
“At the Broncos, we always want to be there on grand final day and we're probably not scared to admit it," Lenarduzzi said.
"So yeah, we want to be there at the end.
“It's been a really enjoyable the season so far and I am feeling really good.
"The body's really good and I feel like I could still keep improving as well, which is always good too. You don't want to ever have that mentality that you're done.”
In their past two wins over the Gold Coast and Raiders; Lenarduzzi has averaged more than 194 run metres in her last two appearances.
However, those games have not been easy and speaking with pan66.com, Lenarduzzi admitted that during the Canberra game it was the first time she had felt she had reached a wall in her ability perform.
“I actually hit a wall a couple times that I haven't hit before," Lenarduzzi said.
"I think I'm going to blame the heat; it was very hot.”
With the Broncos now sitting in the top four at the mid-way point of the season, Lenarduzzi said she wanted to see her team continue to grind it out each match and knew how important each game was in a short season.
“We're building nicely, and have a few people coming back as well; Gayle’s [Broughton] comeback, Stacey [Waaka] and Shanae [Ciesiolka] came back last week as well, and they've just added a bit of X factor for us, which has been really good.” Lenarduzzi said.
“(The win against Canberra) was almost better (than the result against the Titans), because it was a bit of a grind.
"Even in week one and week two, although we lost, we didn't lose confidence, it is just sometimes how footy goes. Hopefully we just keep that momentum rolling”.
