NRL Late Mail: Finals Week 3 - Ramien ruled out

Cronulla's Jesse Ramien has been forced out of Saturday's preliminary final against the Panthers after succumbing to an ankle injury.

The centre suffered the injury in Round 27 and missed the opening week of the finals before returning for last week's victory over the Cowboys.

Ramien, however, will miss Saturday's clash at Accor Stadium, with Siosifa Talakai shifting to the centres and Daniel Atkinson added to the bench.

NRL Late Mail: Finals Week 3

Panthers v Sharks, Saturday 7.50pm at Accor Stadium

Panthers: Scott Sorensen has fallen short in his bid to overcome a hamstring injury and has dropped out of the squad for Saturday night's clash. Penrith remain 1-17 in Friday's team update, with Casey McLean and Trent Toelau remaining in the extended squad.  Sorensen had been a late withdrawal from his side's week one win over the Roosters and will now hope his teammates can progress to the decider so he can push for a recall. Luke Garner was named in the starting side and will remain as an edge forward for the clash.

Sharks: Jesse Ramien has fallen short in his bid to overcome an ankle injury and will miss Saturday's preliminary final. As a result, Siosifa Talakai will start in the centres, with Daniel Atkinson added to the bench. Mawene Hiroti and Jayden Berrell remain in the extended squad. Coach Craig Fitzgibbon had earlier told media on Friday that Ramien was 'up against it' in his bid to take the field. The coach confirmed that Kayal Iro was good to go despite battling a slight wrist injury in recent weeks.
