Raiders fullback Jack Wighton will head to the NRL judiciary on Tuesday night, after the club announced he will plead not guilty to a shoulder charge that threatens to end his season on the eve of Canberra's return to the finals.
Wighton was cited for a grade two shoulder charge for an incident involving Wests Tigers forward Joel Edwards, with two prior offences in the past two years adding significant loading to the 350-point base penalty for the charge.
If Wighton is successful in challenging the charge and is found not guilty on Tuesday night, he will be free to take his place at GIO Stadium on Saturday in his side's qualifying final against the Sharks. If found guilty, Wighton will be banned for four matches and won't play again until 2017.
